Just two days before the NY Jets first pre-season game, the NY Jets announced that Marty Lyons, one of their greatest players in their entire history, and radio broadcaster for the team the last 22 years, is “stepping” aside (read here).

I’ve been blessed to know Marty for almost 25 years, and recently had him and mutual great friend, Joe Klecko, appear at our “St. Patrick’s Irish Drivers Race” at Freehold Raceway this past March.

I just caught Marty’s interview on the Michael Kay Show, and kudos to Michael for throwing Jets team owner Woody Johnson under the bus in the manner this was handled!!!

Having dealt with the Jets in the past, nothing that’s negative surprises me about that organization. Trust me when I tell you, organizational-wise, the NY Giants are light years ahead of the Jets (I spent 13 years working with Giants players and coaches).

For a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in 15 years, Marty and his broadcast partner was loved by Jets fans for their “realistic” analysis, something I suspect contributed to this move.

God Bless You, Marty!
