My wife and I are most grateful to all that have helped us support Freehold Open Door.
Today is a new chapter with a much larger facility to handle a much larger need as time goes by.
Official Press Release: Moving, Expanding, and Celebrating!
Our move to a larger location underscores our commitment to serving the community
Freehold, NJ — March 2, 2026 — Freehold Area Open Door is thrilled to announce our move to a new, larger location, still in Downtown Freehold, but down the street from where we have been for almost 40 years. Our new facility at 80 Throckmorton Street almost doubles our size and is custom-designed to better meet the needs of our neighbors and volunteers. The expanded space is critically needed to support the organization’s tenfold growth in monthly families served.
After a short closure in order to make our move, Freehold Area Open Door is now open again, serving clients from 10:30 am – 2:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.
To celebrate our new location, a Grand Reopening event will take place at our new facility on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 1 – 4 pm. The celebration is open to the public.
“Since 1987, Open Door has been a place of hope for our neighbors. Moving from 39 to 80 Throckmorton allows us to expand that mission, creating a space built around compassion, confidentiality, and empowering families through choice,” said Geralyn Fraggetta-Drury, Executive Director.
“This move marks the culmination of years of hard work and dedication by our staff and volunteers,” said Brian Allain, Board President. “For our Grand Reopening, we will have a special ‘Double Your Donation’ campaign to provide a powerful springboard for the organization to meet our community’s growing needs.”
From one of our neighbors:
“Open Door came to my rescue when I was finding it hard to get to the grocery store. I used to have no problem walking to the store and carrying my groceries. If it wasn’t for them and the care they put in every month making sure I have what I need, I am not sure what I would do. I still have to go to the store for items they may not have but I am often surprised by what they do have. I am grateful to the donors and the amazing pantry team that keep it going for seniors like me.”
About Us
Since 1987, Freehold Area Open Door has been a trusted resource for individuals and families facing hardship in our community. What began as a grassroots, interfaith effort has grown into a comprehensive multi-service agency dedicated to addressing food insecurity, housing challenges, and educational support with compassion and dignity.
To date, we have served more than 350,000 people, and while we’re proud of that impact, we know our work is far from finished. The growing demand for help makes it clear: we must continue to expand our reach and deliver support more efficiently than ever before.
Together with our supporters, we’re committed to creating a stronger, more resilient community, where every neighbor has access to food, shelter, opportunity, and hope.
