And let’s not forget about our most loyal fans. Here is a brief summary of a couple who have been supporting our industry for many years.

One of Freehold Raceway’s biggest and longest fans is Peter Grandich and his lovely wife, Mary. Peter started coming to the racetrack 50 years ago from his home in the Bronx. Over the last decade, he has raced many horses here, including one named after one of the NY Rangers fan favorites, Nick Fotiu (who also saw the two-legged Fotiu here with Peter on several occasions). In addition to racing, he and Mary, have hosted numerous “Day At The Races” charity events with many professional athletes that Peter worked with as special guests celebrities.
“It’s ironic that my favorite event of all-time, was our 2024 Irish Heritage Drivers Race, that included my best friend, NY Jets Legend Joe Klecko, and his teammate and NY Jets fan favorite, Marty Lyons, as special guests. The fact that we also honored Freehold driver Irish Joe Hanney, who had recovered from a near fatal horse accident, made it the single best event ever,” said Peter.
