In the twilight of my career and life itself, I have felt a very special calling to be of assistance to Freehold Open Door, which is more than just a Food pantry. Their Advocate assists with rent payments, shut-off notices, and prescription medications, among many other programs.
The need for such places has never been greater, yet the ability for such places to provide what’s needed has also risen sharply.
After 40 years at one place, Freehold Open Door is moving because they have seen a “ten-fold” increase in the number of people seeking assistance, with well over half of those people seeing both adults of the family working full-time and still struggling.
