“Disco Pete”
On July 4, 1979, the life of “Disco Pete” came to an end – THANK GOD.
I held a Disco party at a place called Barrymore’s, back in the Bronx/Riverdale.
My future wife would attend, along with several other “young ladies”, who I would dance with all of them, but not my future wife, Mary Troy from County Offaly, Ireland.
We would start to date several weeks later, and have our first kiss in the “Floom Ride” at Rye Playland.
Engaged just six weeks after first date, Mary would be the first, and only girl I ever brought home to meet my parents.
We would marry civilly on November 9, 1980, and in Ireland, on April 20, 1981.
The movie “Brooklyn” had so many similarities to our lives back then:
We would visit where the movie was filmed in Ireland and purposely stand where a special scene was shot:
The 4th of July will always be an extra special day for me. Thank you, Jesus!
