When the New York Jets take on the New England Patriots this fall on Sunday, October 18th, there may be no better place in New Jersey to watch the game than Vesuvio’s in Millstone Township.
For that game, Peter Grandich is proudly sponsoring a Jets vs. Patriots watch party at Vesuvio’s Pizza & Nick’s Place, located at 221 Millstone Road in Millstone Township, beginning at 1 PM. Joining fans for the afternoon will be Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Klecko and three-time Super Bowl champion Dan Klecko, a father-and-son duo whose combined NFL résumé spans two of the sport’s most storied franchises.
Guests are welcome to bring up to two items to be autographed and take a photo with each sports celebrity. Admission is free, though donations to D4ID are greatly appreciated. A free drawing for autographed sports memorabilia will also be held during the game.
“Since meeting Joe Klecko more than 25 years ago, I’ve spent more time with him and his family than with anyone besides my wife and daughter,” said Peter Grandich. “I’ve been truly blessed to watch football games with them, and now the public can share in that same pleasure.”
Joe Klecko is a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee (Class of 2023) and the legendary anchor of the New York Jets’ Sack Exchange defensive line of the 1980s. The only player in NFL history to be named to the Pro Bowl at three different positions on the defensive line (end, tackle, and nose tackle), Klecko led the NFL with 20.5 sacks in 1981 and retired with 78 career sacks in 155 games. His No. 73 jersey is one of only three numbers retired in Jets franchise history, and there is not a more fitting Jets ambassador for a game against the Patriots.
Dan Klecko, the son of the Hall of Famer, is a former NFL defensive tackle and fullback who earned three Super Bowl championship rings during his career, two with the New England Patriots (Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX) and one with the Indianapolis Colts (Super Bowl XLI). During the Colts’ remarkable Super Bowl run following the 2006 season, he made one of the key plays of the AFC Championship Game, hauling in a touchdown pass from Peyton Manning that helped spark Indianapolis’s comeback against his former team, the Patriots. A former Temple University standout, Dan Klecko brings both championship pedigree and deep Garden State roots to the afternoon.
The event benefits a nonprofit making a meaningful difference for young adults with intellectual disabilities in the Freehold area. D4ID (Development 4 Individuals With Disabilities) is dedicated to providing comprehensive and innovative services focused on socialization, educational programs, mental health support, and life skills development, with the goal of empowering young adults with intellectual disabilities to reach their full potential and lead fulfilling, independent lives. Donations collected at the event will go directly toward supporting D4ID’s programs and its inclusive community of participants and families.
