Since childhood, I have struggled with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression, sometimes feeling that life was no longer worth living. In time, I came to see Romans 8:31 as my saving grace.
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” affirms that God supports, loves, and defends believers. No spiritual, circumstantial, or human force can ultimately overcome them or separate them from His purpose. These words express complete security and confidence in God’s favor.
When I discuss my struggles in public talks or my book, no one stands up to say, “Me too.” In private, however—in person or by email, many thank me for reminding them they are not alone and addressing these struggles with genuine concern.
For many, economic, social, and political conditions keep worsening, despite the false optimism promoted by parts of the financial services industry. That outlook has largely benefited only those at the very top, leaving the masses with false hope and an even harder struggle ahead.
Meanwhile, a battle that has raged for thousands of years spares no one, not even the elite. I can assure you that few, if any, in the financial services industry would dare discuss it: doing so is bad for business.
After all I have endured to reach this point, I see living my Catholic Christian faith openly as a gift from God. Its greatest reward is the greatest gift any of us could receive: eternal life with God.
I write this for two reasons:
1 – You are not alone. You can move beyond this struggle by embracing Romans 8:31 in all you do.
2 – An enemy seeks only to destroy us and lead us to eternal damnation. Understanding and embracing what follows will help you better understand your battles and how to face them:
Just know this:
Peace Be With You – Peter Grandich
